Privacy Policy — dualog

dualog (the "App") is a private space for two: chat, schedule, key dates, goals, tasks, lists and couple profiles. We respect your privacy and collect only what the App needs to work.

What data we process

• Account: your email address (for signing in with a one-time code) and, if you sign in through Google/Apple, the identifier of that account.
• Profile and couple: name, gender, date of birth, photo, chosen colours, and your link with your partner (a couple of two users).
• Content you create: chat messages, events and key dates, goals, tasks, lists, notes, wish-list.
• Your personal connection code: a permanent eight-character code you can give to another user to connect profiles. It is not derived from your email or phone number, and you can change it at any time.
• Technical data: anonymised analytics events and crash diagnostics — so we can find and fix errors.

We do not request or store payment details, and we do not collect location data.

How the data is used

Data is used solely to run the App's features: to show your content to you and your partner, to send you a sign-in code, to sync data between your devices, and to improve the App's stability.

Personal lists, notes and wish-list items marked as "Private" are visible only to you and are not shown to your partner.

Connections with other users

Besides your partner, you can connect your profile with other users of the App — for example the family and friends you keep in your Circle.

How it works. You give someone your personal code. Entering the code does not grant access — it creates a request that comes to you. Until you confirm it, the other user sees nothing but your name.

What a connected user sees once you confirm: your name, date of birth, preferences (likes, dislikes, allergies), wish-list and the couple's key dates (such as anniversaries) marked as visible to your circle. These update automatically whenever you change them; every preference topic, wish-list item and date has its own visibility switch.

What they never see: your notes, gift ideas, chat, goals, tasks, lists, vault or any other couple content — including the notes you keep about them.

Your partner sees the same. The Circle is a shared space of the couple, so a connected person's profile is visible to both members of your couple.

You stay in control. You can break a connection at any time — access to the profile stops immediately. You can also change your personal code (the old one stops working) or block a user so they cannot send you a request. Notes and records you kept about that person stay with you after the connection ends.

People without an account. Information about people in your Circle who have no account in the App (their name, date of birth, your notes about them) is not shared with other users.

Storage and protection

Data is stored in Google Firebase cloud infrastructure (authentication, the Cloud Firestore database, file storage). Access to a couple's data is restricted to the members of that couple by security rules. Sign-in code emails are sent through an email delivery service (Resend).

Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your data. Data is processed only by the infrastructure providers the App needs to work (Google Firebase, the email delivery service). We may disclose data where the law requires it.

Payments. Payments are taken by the app stores (App Store, Google Play). Your card details are not passed to us and are not stored by us. To verify purchases and subscription status we use the RevenueCat service: it receives your internal identifier within the App and details of the purchase (which plan, date, expiry) — without your name, email or the contents of your data.

The dualog.app website. The website runs Yandex.Metrica, which collects anonymised visit statistics: which pages were opened, where visitors came from, device type, button clicks. For this, Metrica uses cookies and passes that information to the Yandex.Metrica service. Session recording (Webvisor) is disabled. Metrica runs on the website only: it is not present in the App, and the contents of your data are not available to it. If you came from the website or from a game and created an account, we record the fact of the signup in Metrica, attaching it to the same visit by the counter’s anonymised identifier — this is how we tell which placement brings people. No name, email or content is sent. You can opt out by blocking cookies in your browser — this does not affect how the App works.

Waiting list. If you left your email in a waiting-list form on the website (the “Web version coming soon” one earlier, the iPhone one now), we keep it for exactly one message — the notification that it has launched. We send no other mailings to that address. It is not shared with anyone and is not used for other purposes. Current submissions are stored in our own database (Firebase, Google Cloud, EU); addresses left before August 2026 were handled by Netlify Forms. To withdraw your consent and have the address deleted, write to dualog.dev@gmail.com — we answer any questions about your data at the same address.

Invitation links. When someone invites you to Dualog, the link points to dualog.app/i/… and has to keep working after you install the app — so that you land with the person who invited you instead of hunting for a code. To connect the click with the install we use the following, and nothing else:

• On Android — the Google Play mechanism (Install Referrer): the store passes the invitation marker to the installed app. We collect no additional device information for this.
• On iOS no such mechanism exists, so two fallbacks apply. First: when you tap “Install”, the invitation marker is copied to your device clipboard and the app reads it on first launch. Second, if that did not work: at the moment of the click we store an anonymous fingerprint — IP address, platform type, language, time zone and screen width — to match it with the same device when the app first starts.

The fingerprint contains no name, email or advertising identifier and is not linked to an account. It is kept for no longer than one hour, is deleted as soon as the match is made, and is used only to deliver the invitation to the installed app. It is not shared with anyone; there are no ad networks and no tracking here. If matching fails, the invitation can still be applied manually, by code.

Your rights

You can edit your profile and content at any time, sign out, and delete your account together with your personal data under "Settings → Account → Delete account".

Children

The App is not intended for anyone under 18.
